Dora Asterstad is a violinist with Bulgarian roots who was born and raised in Sweden. After graduating in 2012 with both a Bachelor and Master of Music with highest marks, including a Bachelor's exam in Baroque violin from the Sibelius Academy (FI), she continued to actively performa as a freelancer in the Helsinki region. As a result, Dora enjoys Mahler symphonies as much as Castello's 17th century works, and thrives with both together.
Asterstad is a founding member of Espoo Baroque, a group which organises early music performances in Espoo. She has a permanent position in Finnish National Opera and is a member of both the Finnish Baroque Orchestra and the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra. Dora can be heard on recordings with baroque ensemble Argo on the Alba Records label, and on countless orchestral recordings with groups such as Tapiola Sinfonetta, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
