Program 2017

The next edition of the Encanto Festival will be held in the last week of May 2017. The theme of the festival draws from celebration of Finland’s 100 years as an independent nation. It deals with the conflicts and reconciliation that we encounter in our daily lives, the journey from war to peace, dissonance to harmony. The concert and salon programs explore both the meeting of court and pub cultures, as well as uniting music with other performing arts. The fantastic salon program is composed of six unique concerts given in different homes, offering the public a chance to meet the artists in a more intimate setting. The evening will continue with the unforgettable Angel’s Share program.

In May 2017, the Encanto Festival will return to Kauniainen and breathe new life into classical music when top (baroque) musicians from Germany, Finland, and plenty of other countries will come together to present an unforgettable concert experience. The festival’s artistic director is Georg Kallweit, a globe-trotting baroque violinist who brings fantastic guest musicians from Germany and Holland to the festival. Both the local and guest musicians will perform separately at various times during their concerts, but at the heart of the festival is the cooperation and musical moments that they will share. The main project for 2017 is the Angels’ Share concert.

The theme of the festival is conflict and reconciliation. Music is often used as a replacement for words when moving from war to peace, dispute to settlement and grief to comfort, both in concert halls as well as salons. All of the events that Encanto organises focus on creating a conversational and collaborative atmosphere. You can spend the whole weekend enjoying not only the many events offered by the Encanto Festival, but also meeting friends new and old!
